    Years at GVCS: 4

I have been attending Green Valley Christian Center, along with my wife and three daughters, since shortly after we moved to Las Vegas in 2004.  I spent several years before that running a successful computer company with stores along the Wasatch Front in Utah, and have also served as a technical and accounting consultant.  After I began attending church here, it didn’t take long to feel the Lord’s call to serve the youth of our church in various capacities, including in the Growing Kids God’s Way ministry and as a youth leader for our Junior High and High School groups.  As I worked more and more with the youth, I realized that the Lord was calling me to be a teacher in a full time capacity, and the opportunity presented itself to come on board as the computer and technologies instructor in March of 2006.

It is so important for today’s youth to not only learn the basics of how different technologies work, but to gain the creative, critical and logical thinking skills to put these technologies to work in practical and inventive ways.  I want to challenge my students to think outside the box, and give them the means to harness the power of computers to work for them in ways that they never thought possible.  For my younger students, lessons in word processing, typing and paint will introduce them to the basics of how to use a computer.  For the older students, practical uses of the computer such as creating a database and designing websites will introduce them to more complex uses of a computer.  These foundations will again be built upon as our students learn about spreadsheets, desktop publishing, electronic presentations, and computer programming.
