6th Grade - A (Section I)

Term:
  • 2009-2010 School Year
    Teacher:

Education: Bachelor degree from Bethany University

    Certification: ACSI

Experience: I began teaching the 4th grade here at GVCS in 1998.  After seven years I was ready for a new challenge and asked to be moved to the 6th grade.  I have currently been teaching the 6th grade for five years and love every minute of it!

    Years at GVCS: 12 years

I have many exciting things planned for each school year.  Your child will be provided a chance to work hard, have fun, and grow as an individual.  It is my goal to make 6th grade your child’s best school year yet.

I am dedicated to each one of my students learning experience.  I feel that it is my responsibility to prepare each one of my students academically as well as ethically and spiritually.

My teaching philosophy is . . . to provide a fun, creative, loving Christian atmosphere that will give each student a passion for knowledge and self confidence to pursue their dreams.

With this philosophy comes hard work on everyone’s part.  In all of the creative assignments and projects that we will be doing, along with the traditional schoolwork I am asking that each student do “all things unto the Lord”.  God has called us to do all things unto Him.   Not the things that we want to do, not the things that we think are fun and interesting, but all things.  I call this “… and then some”.  For example, it’s not enough to just do the homework assignment; do “… and then some” and have your homework checked.   I believe that if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.  Please keep this in mind when your son/daughter is doing assignments at home.  Ask them if what they did is their best.  If it is not, encourage them to do it again.  Remind them to do their best the first time.

I am here for you and your child.  I know that in order for your child to get the most out of this school year we need to have good communication.  Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  I will be in contact with you through weekly parent letters, posting grades on InfoDirect, phone calls, e-mails, and any other necessary correspondence.

Please help your child by being involved in their academics.  Ask your child if they have completed all of their homework; check their daily planners to make sure that they are writing down their assignments (I do not post homework on InfoDirect). Look on the calendar outside of the class for upcoming tests, quizzes, events and assignments.  Also, the homework is always posted on the white board for everyone to see.

I am looking forward to getting to know the parents I do not know and knowing even better the parents that I do.  I am so glad that you and your child are in my class.  Thank you in advance for all of your support.
